Module vs Widget

Is there a difference between a module and a widget?
I noticed on the http://designers.hubspot.com/docs/hubl/export-to-template-context they mention both terms.

Not really, widgets is just the name of the dictionary that stores the properties of the modules

If you want to retrieve a parameter from a module that is already rendering on a page, the module can be accessed within a dict named widgets.
